Leadership Butts

Building Inspired Leaders Committed to Serving Community

WE ARE NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS!

WHAT IS LEADERSHIP BUTTS?

As Butts challenges and opportunities become more complex, there is an increasing need to develop strong community leaders. A program of Butts County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Butts is a comprehensive leadership program designed to educate and better prepare a diverse group of community, government, business, and non-profit leaders to work collaboratively in addressing local issues. The program provides a unique learning experience for emerging and existing leaders through an intensive 4 month program that trains, empowers and supports leaders so they can effect positive community change.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?

Leadership Butts is open to individuals who have lived or worked in Butts County for more than a year. The Leadership Butts Board of Directors, which is comprised of Leadership Butts Alumni, reviews the application submitted by nominated individuals and selects the final group. A diversified group in terms of race, sex, age and occupation is selected.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF THE PARTICIPANTS?

Participants must show a sincere desire, be motivated and interested in the community, and have a strong desire to increase their service in key leadership positions in Butts County. Each class member must make a firm commitment to attend the entire Leadership Butts program.

WORDS FROM OUR GRADUATES

Leadership Butts opened an opportunity for me to find a meaningful leadership position within our community – a position that is creating a tangible local impact, making me a well-know professional and giving me a great deal of personal satisfaction for growth in our county.

Melinda B. Atha, Butts County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Class of 1997

Leadership Butts has given me the opportunity to meet new people, develop relationships and for a more thorough understanding of the daily functions of Butts County. It has provided me with great opportunities, and I would highly recommend it.

J. Michael Brewer, Deputy County Administrator, Class of 1995

There is no better way for anyone, whether a longtime resident of the county or a new-comer, to gain as much valuable information about our community in such a short time frame. I cultivated invaluable relationships with my classmates that I will be able to use the rest of my career.

Mayor Harvey Norris, Mayor of Flovilla and Jackson Fire Chief, Class of 1994
